Mark Lowderman

New El Paso County Assessor

Colorado Springs native Mark Lowderman was elected to the office of El Paso County Assessor in November, 2006.

Mark is a 1976 graduate of Palmer High School and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Colorado State University in 1980.

After having come to the Assessor's Office in 1981 as a Residential Appraiser, he decided in 1984 to open his own company, Mark Lowderman & Associates, as an Independent Fee Appraiser for commercial, residential and farm & ranch properties. He successfully operated the business, serving as owner and president until 1995.

Mark returned to the Assessor's Office in 1995 as a Commercial Appraiser, with a Certified General appraisers license. In 2001 he was made the Commercial Appraisal Manager and became the Deputy Chief Appraiser in 2002.

2003 brought Mark the distinction of becoming the Deputy Assessor of El Paso County, a title he held until his election to El Paso County Assessor.

Among his numerous professional designations, Mark is a long-standing member of the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO), the Colorado Association of Tax Appraisers (CATA), and is a Senior Designated Member of the Certified Real Estate Appraisers (CREA).

Mark has also served as a hearing officer for the County Board of Equalization Proceedings, and has been designated as an "Expert Witness" regarding Eminent Domain, Condemnation and Property Acquisition.
