Adopt-a-Road Involvement!
Members of the Assessor's staff (and their families!) have been volunteering their time and hard work by adopting a 2-mile stretch of Bradley Road upon which a "clean-up" is performed on a quarterly basis.
Safety equipment and trash bags are provided by the Transportation Department and our volunteers rise early on their scheduled days to eliminate the unsightly trash that collects along the roadway. Once collected and bagged, Transportation picks up the rubbish and hauls it away.

The volunteers include not only current Assessor's staff and members of their families, but retiree's as well. It's a great way to get some fresh air and exercise, while providing a service to the community that can be appreciated by all who travel Bradley Road.
One of the volunteer's earliest clean-up efforts brought out quite a large group of volunteers on a beautiful day:

Our thanks to all who have volunteered their time,
especially on a Holiday Weekend!

While commonplace rubbish is anticipated, some items spotted and removed have included aluminum siding, an engine block and even a stray bowling ball! Wildlife encountered along the way always involves mice and other small animals as well as snakes (both dead and alive!)

The whole crew, hard at work...watch out for those snakes!

After the quarterly clean-up has been completed, digging into a pot-luck brunch at the nearby home of one of our retired-staff member volunteers is a welcome refresher.

Our volunteers were recently awarded special certificates of appreciation by Assessor Mark Lowderman for their "above-and-beyond" interest in public service.
We are very proud of these individuals and their families for all they do and for the Public Service they perform.
